The currently raging pandemic has forced changes in our lives in the way we perform professionally, live, and socialize; and these changes are here to stay for the future as well. The changes are happening at mind-boggling speed as well as technology is helping these to happen. So let’s read about these changes and how they are changing our professional lives.

These are the ways Covid is driving change for all of us:

  • Being prepared for the unknown. In these months of constant fluctuation and new protocols, companies and their management who are flexible, agile, and able to steer through the choppy waters are the ones who come out on top. The speed & scale of digital change will go up, flexible leadership in control is the need of the hour, entrepreneurial grit, and a steady mindset for growth amidst an uncertain scenario.
  • New ways of decision making. The pandemic has forced the ways businesses to strategize and come up with business plans. Open company cultures are facilitating speedier decisions at various tiers, requiring large-scale data literacy, and the adoption of a robust data culture. Firms are now reliant more than ever before on outside data to facilitate better decision-making.
  • Focus on humanity. The pandemic has forced us all to revisit our core values as human beings. Be it racism, mental health, community support, and good health for all. These all have made it to the front page and are here to stay. In the workplace there is heightened awareness of diversity & inclusion, resulting in greater efforts by the management as businesses accept unconscious bias, and take positive action for diversifying talent in their ranks. Diversification of workplace talent means gender, race, religion, sexual orientation, ability, and so on.

  • Hybrid set up. As physical distancing became the norm due to the nature of the virus, companies stepped into the digital world to remain in business. This way they were able to retain customers and their loyalty. The future is going to be a mix of digital and in-person engagement & experience. The customers have liked their digital experience especially the younger demographics while the older demographics are still reliant& prefer the face — to — face model.
  • The culture, mission, ethics, values of a company are now important factors. Customers expect companies to enhance the safety & welfare of staff, ensure sustainable development, and contribute to the greater good in the form of activism. We all want to deal with businesses and companies that are morally on the right side.
  • Collaboration with others in the same vertical. Companies are putting aside their reservations and engaging with others to expand the business, acquire new clients, and innovate to create new products & services. For example, covid -19 vaccinations and delivery by drone of retail products. Cooperation and partnership are the new buzzwords in this era of uncertainty.
